PESTANAL®, analytical standard...

Description

  • General description: 2-Phenoxyethanol is a compound, which belongs to the class of volatile organics[1]having a faint rose like aromatic odor.[2] It may find applications as a solvent in ball-point inks[1][2], resins and in organic synthesis.[2] It may also be used in cosmetics as an antimicrobial agent and preservative.[2]
  • Application: 2-Phenoxyethanol may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations[5] and anesthetized fish[4] using chromatography techniques. It may also be used as a test material to evaluate its efficacy as an anesthetic in juvenile European sea bass and gilthead sea bream through a series of experiments simulating aquaculture activities.[3]
