Description

  • General description: Ammonium acetate (NH4C2H3O2) is water soluble, hygroscopic ammonium salt. It is ecofriendly and inexpensive,[1] which can be prepared by reacting glacial acetic acid with ammonia or ammonium carbonate. It is commonly utilized in dye industry and as meat preservative.[2] It participates in the generation of sol-gel formaldehyde sensors utilized for detecting formaldehyde in air samples.[3] Neutron energy-gain spectrum of ammonium acetate has been recorded which gives data on the atomic motions.[4] It has been reported to regenerate aldehydes from bisulfite addition products and diacetates in the absence of solvent and under microwave condition.[1]
  • Application: Ammonium acetate may be used as a component of mobile phase for HPLC analysis.[5]It may be used in the synthesis of the following:Phenanthroline derivatives employed as corrosion inhibitors.[6]Highly substituted imidazoles.[7]2,4-Diarylpolyhydroquinoline derivatives.[8]
