Description
- General description: Brilliant Blue G (BBG) is a dye.[1] It has been proposed as a substitute for internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling.[2]
- Application: Brilliant Blue G was used to prepare the protein reagent for the determination of protein content of the collagenase enzyme isolated from fish waste.[3] It may be employed as stain for the internal limiting membrane (ILM) for the macular hole (MH) and epiretinal membrane (ERM) surgery.[1]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: P2X7 purinergic receptor antagonist.
- Analysis Note: λmax. ∼610 nm; E(1%,1 cm) ∼500-700 (H2O)
- Other Notes: Protein stain for gel electrophoresis. Does not penetrate the gel and is three times more sensitive than Naphthol Blue Black B[4]; Simple and sensitive protein assay[5]; Rapid, sensitive and versatile assay for proteins; free amino acids and several chemicals that interfere with the Lowry procedure cause no interference[6].
