- General description: Stearyl Alcohol is added as a stiffening agent in cosmetics and pharmaceutical formulations. It is also utilized to enhance the water-holding capacity of ointments. Its other applications include the use in controlled-release tablets, suppositories, and microspheres.[1]Pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control, provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the preparation of in-house working standards.
- Application: Stearyl Alcohol may be used as a pharmaceutical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations by gas chromatography.[2]
