- Zinc finger protein 175 (UniProt: Q9Y473; also known as Zinc finger protein OTK18) is encoded by the ZNF175 gene (Gene ID: 7728) in human
- ZNF175 is zinc finger protein that contains 13 C2H2 type zinc fingers and is shown to be ubiquitous in its expression
- ZNF175 displays antiviral activity and it is produced during HIV-1 infection of mononuclear phagocytes in human and interferes with HIV-1 replication by suppressing Tat-induced viral LTR promoter activity
- It down-regulates the expression of several chemokine receptors and plays a role in the interaction of viral and host cell factors leading to HIV-1 associated dementia and HIV-1 encephalitis
- ZNF175 contains a Krüppel associated box (KBAB; aa 26-89) domain that is responsible for its repressive activity
- Plasma levels of ZNF175 are reported to correlate with CD8 count and HIV status
