Description

  • This clone recognizes both the large and the small subunit of rRNA from all eukaryotic cells
  • MA1-13017 has been successfully used in Immunocytochemistry, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence applications
  • The MA1-13017 immunogen is from whole ribosomal rRNA 52.8S rRNA (ribosomal RNA) forms a major structural component of ribosomes which provides a mechanism for decoding mRNA information into amino acids/proteins through the process of translation
  • rRNA plays a key role in accurate positioning of mRNA as well as peptidyl tRNA, and also plays a structural role in peptidyl transferase activity by generating scaffolds where ribosomal proteins are assembled
  • rRNA is generated inside nucleolus, which is localized in nucleus of the cells and contains genes essential for encoding rRNA
  • Defective rRNA may implicate in certain pathologies, for example: decreased rRNA expression has been observed in subjects with myelodysplastic syndromes, and abnormal rRNA expression has also been linked to Alzheimer's disease.
