Description

  • Specificity: This antibody is specific for human CD37, which is expressed on virtually all mature B lymphocytes, but not on pro-B or plasma cells
  • CD37 is highly expressed on all forms of B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, chronic lymphocyte leukemia, and other leukemias
  • CD37 does not appear to be expressed on T cells, thymocytes, granulocytes or platelets
  • Preparation: BALB/c mice were immunized with lymph node cells from a patient with nodular poorly differentiated lymphocytic lymphoma
  • Immunophenotyping studies of these cells identified them as B cells expressing SIgG/lambda, as well as HLA-DR
  • Leu-12, and B1
  • The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family
  • Most of these members are cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains
  • The proteins mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility
  • This encoded protein is a cell surface glycoprotein that is known to complex with integrins and other transmembrane 4 superfamily proteins
  • It may play a role in T-cell-B-cell interactions
  • Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
