Description

  • Description Sequence homology: Cow: 100%; Dog: 100%; Guinea Pig: 100%; Horse: 100%; Human: 100%; Mouse: 100%; Rabbit: 100%; Rat: 100%; Zebrafish: 100% PDEF (prostate-derived Ets factor) is a 37.5-kDa protein that acts as an androgen-independent transcriptional activator for the PSA (prostate specific antigen) promoter
  • It also interacts directly with the DNA binding domain of androgen receptor and enhances androgen-mediated activation of the PSA promoter
  • PDEF was shown to have transcript levels 192-fold higher in the peripheral blood of some breast cancer patients in comparison with normal individuals
  • PDEF mRNA is also frequently over-expressed in human breast tumors as well as in human ovarian tumors
  • In ovarian tumors, PDEF expression seems to down-modulate malignant potential, and thus provides a rationale to screen for drugs that induce PDEF expression in epithelial ovarian tumors.
