- General description: Hexadecylpyridinium bromide (HDPB) is a cationic surfactant with quaternary nitrogen located in the aromatic heterocyclic ring of the headgroup and a hydrocarbon tail consisting of 16 carbons. It has application in the polymerization reaction as well as in the extraction and preconcentration of ionic species.[1] [2]
- Application: Hexadecylpyridinium bromide can be used as a cationic surfactant to:Prepare a polyfluorate salt.[1] Inhibit the corrosion of mild steel in acidic media.[3]
