- General description: Taurocholic acid sodium salt hydrate is a bile acid with detergent capabilities. [1]
- Application: Taurocholic acid sodium salt hydrate has been used in a study to assess the adsorption of bile acids and salts to vegetable fibrous tissue. [2] It has also been used in a study to investigate a method for determination of conjugated and unconjugated bile salts in serum and jejunal fluid. [3]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Non-sulfated bile salt, physiological transport substrate for the bile salt export pump/sister of Pgp (BSEP/spgp), Na(+)/taurocholate cotransporter (NTCP) and MRP3 into the hepatic carnalicular.
