Description
- Application: Uric acid sodium salt has been used in isotonic solution of NaCl dose titration study.[1] It has been used as a suspension in NaCl for intra-articular administration to experimental animals to induce synovitis.[2]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Sodium urate is the sodium salt of uric acid. In gout, it is observed in synovial fluid.[3] Sodium urate has been shown to precipitate calcium oxalate from urine.[4] It is also known to reverse the inhibitory effects of reactive oxygen and nitrogen metabolites on gelatinase A activity.[5] Excess sodium urate in soft tissues results in a condition referred to as tophi.[6]
