- General description: Dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane belonging to the class of cyclic volatile methylsiloxanes is identified as a potent environmental contaminant, most prominently found in biota, biosolid samples, soil, sediment samples, wastewaters, etc.[1] These compounds are used as fragrance carriers or solvents in household products, personal care products, cleaning agents and as precursors in the manufacture of silicone polymers.[2]
- Application: Dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in the following:Silicone emulsions using gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC-FID).[3]Biota[2] and wastewater samples[1] using gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
