Description

  • General description: 7-dehydrodesmosterol (7-DHD) is synthesized via the Bloch pathway. 7-DHD serves as a desmosterol synthesis precursor and the enzyme 7-dehydrocholesterol reductase (DHCR7) catalyzes this step.[1]
  • Application: 7-dehydrodesmosterol has been used as an internal oxysterol standard in ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS).[2]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: 7-dehydrodesmosterol (7-DHD) levels are higher during fetal development[3] and increases with aging.[4] Elevated levels of 7-DHD is associated with Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome mouse model.[3] Reduced levels of 7-DHD is observed in shiverer and quaking disorder.[5]
  • Packaging: 5 mL Amber Glass Screw Cap Vial (700138P-1mg)
