- General description: 16:0-17:0 cyclo PC or 1-palmitoyl-2-cis-9,10-methylenehexadecanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is a cyclopropane modified analog of PC.[1] It is a glycerophospholipid and is the most important constituent of the eukaryotic cell membrane.[2][3] Generally, it constitutes up to 40-50% of the cells and organelles.[3]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is crucial for the synthesis of second messengers and lipid mediators. It also acts as an intermediate for the synthesis of other glycerophospholipid classes along with phosphatidylethanolamine (PE).[2] Any disturbance in PC levels leads to various metabolic disorders.[2]
