Description
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Adamantyl galactosylceramide (adaGalCer), a glycosphingolipid (GSL) analog, modulates abnormal GSL turnover. It functions as an inhibitor and an alternative substrate to regulate cellular GSL metabolism in a particular manner.[1] AdaGalCer blocks cell sulfatide synthesis and microsomal globotriaosyl ceramide (Gb3) synthesis. It reduces glucosylceramide (GlcCer) levels in normal and lysosomal storage disease (LSD) cells.[1]
