Description

  • General description: Adenosine 5′-triphosphate (ATP) is synthesized in mitochondria by oxidative phosphorylation.[1]
  • Application: Adenosine 5′-triphosphate dipotassium salt hydrate has been used: in in vitro transcription reaction as nucleotide source and in 2x RNA binding buffer[2]as a component of energy solution for calibrating crude cell extract[3]to test its dependency with PK11195 in mediating autophagy[4]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: Adenosine 5′-triphosphate (ATP) is a central component of energy storage and metabolism in vivo. ATP is used in many cellular processes, respiration, biosynthetic reactions, motility, and cell division.[1] ATP is a substrate of many kinases involved in cell signaling and of adenylate cyclase(s) that produce the second messenger cAMP.[5] ATP provides the metabolic energy to drive metabolic pumps.[1] Metabolic disorders lead to ATP deficiency. Use of xanthine oxidoreductase inhibitors and inosine improves intracellular ATP levels.[6]
  • Caution: For maximum stability, store as frozen solution at pH 3.5 to 6.8.
