Description
- General description: Thioacetamide (TAA) is a thiocarbonyl compound commonly used as a corrosion inhibitor. It prevents corrosion by forming a protective layer on metal surfaces.[1] It undergoes deuterium exchange reaction with D2O to afford N-dideuterated thioacetamide. Infrared spectral investigations of thioacetamide and its deuterated derivative (N-dideuterated thioacetamide) have been reported.[2]
- Application: Hepatotoxin and carcinogen.[3] An additive in enantioselective reduction of β-keto esters with immobilized baker′s yeast.[4]
