- General description: Sclareolide is a diterpenoid compound mainly used in the perfume industry for its amber like odor.[1]
- Application: (3aR)-(+)-Sclareolide may be used in the total syntheses of bioactive compounds such as (+)-chloropuupehenone, (+)-chloropuupehenol[2], cyslabdan[3], acuminolide and 17-O-acetylacuminolide.[4] It may also be used in the preparation of γ-bicyclohomofarnesal, an ambergris odorant.[5]
