- Application: cis-Dichlorobis(2,2′-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) can be used in synthesizing a variety of ruthenium complexes such as ruthenium(II) complex that can modify the surface of gold nanoparticles for the cysteine detection by selective luminescence.[1] It can also be used in the preparation of ruthenium complexes to design photochromic molecular switches[2] and self-assembling supramolecular systems.[3]
