- Biochem/physiol Actions: Porcine interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a cytokine, exhibiting inflammatory action in lungs. It is known to stimulate neutrophils, in response to lung damage. Increased levels of IL-8 is observed in fibroblasts, monocytes, and hepatocytes during inflammation.[1]
