Description

  • Description: The monoclonal antibody 1F3 recognizes human TRAF-1
  • TRAF-1 is a multifunctional adapter molecule and member of the TNF receptor associated factor protein family
  • TRAF proteins associate with various receptors of the TNF receptor superfamily to mediate signal transduction
  • TRAF-1 plays a role in regulating cell survival and apoptosis, regulates the signaling of NF kappa B and JNK, and forms a heterodimeric complex with TRAF-2
  • TRAF-1 also interacts with cell surface receptors such as CD30, CD40, and CD357 (AITR), and cytoplasmic proteins like NIK, RIP2, A20, and TRIP
  • Expression of TRAF-1 can be induced by Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) and TNF alpha
  • Applications Reported: This 1F3 antibody has been reported for use in western blotting, microscopy, immunohistochemical staining, and immunocytochemistry
  • Applications Tested: This 1F3 antibody has been tested by immunohistochemistry of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded human tissue using low pH antigen retrieval and can be used at less than or equal to 5 μg/mL
  • It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest
  • Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE
  • Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC
  • Filtration: 0.2 μm post-manufacturing filtered
  • The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the TNF receptor (TNFR) associated factor (TRAF) protein family
  • TRAF proteins associate with, and mediate the signal transduction from various receptors of the TNFR superfamily
  • This protein and TRAF2 form a heterodimeric complex, which is required for TNF-alpha-mediated activation of MAPK8/JNK and NF-kappaB
  • The protein complex formed by this protein and TRAF2 also interacts with inhibitor-of-apoptosis proteins (IAPs), and thus mediates the anti-apoptotic signals from TNF receptors
  • The expression of this protein can be induced by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)
  • EBV infection membrane protein 1 (LMP1) is found to interact with this and other TRAF proteins; this interaction is thought to link LMP1-mediated B lymphocyte transformation to the signal transduction from TNFR family receptors
  • Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene.
