Description

  • Description: BMS168 (F11-24) specifically reacts with Fibroblast Activation Protein (FAP), a cell surface glycoprotein of reactive human fibroblast
  • Among the normal adult organs tested BMS168 does not show immunoreactivity in immunohistological studies with either resting fibroblasts (fibrocytes) of the normal organ mesenchyme or the parenchymal cells
  • The single exception noted is a subset of endocrine cells in the pancreatic islets, presumably glucagon-producing A cells
  • Applications Tested: Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, Immunoprecipitation
  • The protein encoded by this gene is a homodimeric integral membrane gelatinase belonging to the serine protease family
  • It is selectively expressed in reactive stromal fibroblasts of epithelial cancers, granulation tissue of healing wounds, and malignant cells of bone and soft tissue sarcomas
  • This protein is thought to be involved in the control of fibroblast growth or epithelial-mesenchymal interactions during development, tissue repair, and epithelial carcinogenesis.
