- CD101 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the EWI (sharing a conserved glutamine-tryptophan-isoleucine motif) family within the Ig superfamily
- CD101 is expressed on monocytes, granulocytes, dendritic cells, Langerhans cells and activated T cells
- CD101 reportedly plays a role in the regulation of T cell activation
- CD101 was found to be expressed on a subset of CD25+Foxp3+ T regulatory cells that showed higher suppressive properties in vitro and in vivo
- Polymorphisms in Cd101 are associated with type I diabetes susceptibility.
