Description

  • This antibody reacts with an antigen present in cutaneous melanocytes, prenatal and infantile retinal pigment epithelium and melanoma cells.This antibody reacts with melanomas and tumors showing melanoma/melanocytic differentiation
  • It reacts with junctional and blue nevus cells
  • Non-melanocytic cells do not react with this antibody
  • Melanoma is a malignant tumor of melanocytes which are found predominantly in skin but also in the bowel and the eye (see uveal melanoma)
  • It is one of the rarer types of skin cancer but causes the majority of skin cancer related deaths.
