Description
- Antibody tested in indirect ELISA Salinomycin is a polyether antibiotic that has been found to have potent anticancer properties, particularly against cancer stem cells
- It was first isolated from Streptomyces albus in the late 1970s and works by binding to and inhibiting the activity of ATP synthase, a protein involved in cellular energy production
- This disruption of energy production leads to cell death in cancer cells, while sparing normal cells
- Salinomycin also has antibacterial and antifungal properties, making it a promising candidate for the development of new antibiotics.
