- Antibody detects endogenous levels of PAK4/5/6 only when phosphorylated at Ser474
- PAK proteins are critical effectors that link Rho GTPases to cytoskeleton reorganization and nuclear signaling
- They serve as targets for the small GTP binding proteins Cdc42 and Rac and have been implicated in a wide range of biological activities
- PAK4 interacts specifically with the GTP-bound form of Cdc42Hs and weakly activates the JNK family of MAP kinases
- PAK4 is a mediator of filopodia formation and may play a role in the reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton
- PAK5 is predominantly expressed in brain
- It is capable of promoting neurite outgrowth, and thus may play a role in neurite development
- This kinase is associated with microtubule networks and induces microtubule stabilization
- The subcellular localization of this kinase is tightly regulated during cell cycle progression
- PAK6 encodes a member of a family of p21-stimulated serine/threonine protein kinases, which contain an amino-terminal Cdc42/Rac interactive binding (CRIB) domain and a carboxyl-terminal kinase domain
- These kinases function in a number of cellular processes, including cytoskeleton rearrangement, apoptosis, and the mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase signaling pathway
- The protein encoded by this gene interacts with androgen receptor (AR) and translocates to the nucleus, where it is involved in transcriptional regulation.
