Description

  • Recommended positive controls: A431, HeLa, HepG2
  • Store product as a concentrated solution
  • Centrifuge briefly prior to opening the vial
  • Mmgt2 mediates Mg(2+) transport and may provide regulated pathways for Mg(2+) transport in the Golgi and post-Golgi organelles of epithelium-derived cells
  • Magnesium is an essential metal, but few selective transporters have been identified
  • The two separate gene products, Mmgt1 and Mmgt2, comprise the family that we have termed membrane Mg(2+) transporters (MMgTs), and the proteins reside in the membrane and mediate Mg(2+) transport
  • The transport of Mg(2+) is saturable and studies have identified that Mmgt2 fusion proteins reside in the Golgi complex and post-Golgi vesicles, including the early endosomes in COS-7 cells transfected with the respective tagged constructs
  • Among related pathways for Mmgt2 are transport and binding events, in particular, transport of glucose and other sugars, bile salts and organic acids, metal ions and amine compounds.
