- Application: Levamisole Hydrochloride may be used as a pharmaceutical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations by potentiometric sensing,[1] spectrometric[2] and atomic absorption spectroscopy[3] methods.
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Shows both immunostimulant and immunosuppressant effects, depending on several controllable factors. Very effective in treatment of ascariasis (hookworm infestation). Useful in chemotherapy of colorectal cancers, possibly due to its stimulation of IL-1 production and direct activation of macrophages.
- Analysis Note: These secondary standards offer multi-traceability to the USP, EP and BP primary standards, where they are available.
