Description

  • General description: Campesterol is a plant sterol, which is an analog of cholesterol[1] and a brassinosteroid (BR) precursor. The enzyme diminute/dwarf1 mediates the synthesis of campesterol from 24-methylenecholesterol.[2] Campesterol possesses methyl group at C-24 position of the side chain in the cholesterol structure.[3]
  • Application: Campesterol may be used as a plant sterol to test its effect on the transcriptional activation of liver X receptor α (LXRA) in breast cancer cells.[4] It may also be used as a sterol standard for calibration curve generation in liquid chromatography multiple reaction monitoring (LC-MRM) analysis.[5]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: Campesterol reduces the levels of chylomicron, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL)-apoB100.[1] A high ratio of campesterol to sitosterol enhances fiber elongation in cotton fibres.[6]
  • Packaging: 5 mL Amber Glass Screw Cap Vial (700126P-10mg)
