- Biochem/physiol Actions: Phosphatidylcholine (PC) functions as a surfactant within the mucus to form a hydrophobic surface to inhibit bacterial penetrance.[2] It is used to treat fat embolism. Phosphatidylcholine lowers the levels of cholesterol and triglycerides.[6]
