- Application: 14:1 (Δ9-Trans) PC has been used as an internal standard for phospholipid analyses by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS).[3]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Phosphatidylcholine (PC) functions as a surfactant within the mucus to form a hydrophobic surface to inhibit bacterial penetrance.[2] It is used to treat fat embolism. Phosphatidylcholine lowers the levels of cholesterol and triglycerides.[4]
