- Cross-reactivity with PNK homologues from other sources has not been determined
- Anti-human Polynucleotide Kinase Mouse Monoclonal Antibody recognizes polynucleotide kinase (PNK), a 57 kDa nuclear enzyme implicated in DNA strand repair processes that occur during DNA replication and recombination, or in response to DNA damaging agents
- PNK targets the DNA 5'-hydroxy and 3'-phosphate termini for phosphorylation and dephosphorylation events
- During strand breakage in human cells, normal PNK associates with other nuclear proteins to prepare the DNA termini for the enzymatic actions of DNA polymerase-beta and DNA ligase III
- PNK is a key functional component in maintaining the genetic stability of human cells.
