Description

  • Specifically detects MICA in Human samples, and it is validated for Immunohistochemistry, Western Blotting The protein MHC class 1 polypeptide-related sequence A (MIC-A) and encoded by the human gene named MICA is an unusual MHC class one molecule with no known role in antigen presentation but instead acts as a stress-induced self antigen that is recognized by gamma delta T cells and is the ligand for KLRK1/NKG2D cellular receptor
  • Binding to KLRK1 leads to cell lysis
  • MICA is a cell membrane associated protein found in the cytoplasm
  • Additionally, it is expressed in many organ systems and found expressed on many cell types
  • Expression is induced by many stress responses, including infection, DNA damaging agents, E
  • coli contact, hCMV and ionizing radiation
  • MICA is also the antigen for many autoimmune diseases associated with the skin, one organ system where MICA is highly expressed
  • Psoriasis and Psoriatic arthritis are two such diseases and antibodies to MICA have also been associated with organ transplant difficulties and allograft rejection.
