- BTE 002-08-02 is specific for native PICP from human amniotic fluid
- Crossreactivity to other species is not determined
- BTE 002-08-02 has been successfully used in ELISA procedures
- BTE 002-08-02 is especially well suited as the catching antibody in a sandwich ELISA in combination with BTE 002-18-02
- The BTE 002-08-02 epitope differs from that of BTE 002-18-02
- NOTE: Concentration is lot-dependent and can vary from 0.85-1.15 mg/mL Collagen type I is present in soft connective tissue and bone where it represents approximately 90% of the organix matrix
- Collagen type I is produced from procollagen when two teloterminal propeptides are digested from the procursor and released into the circulation
- The propeptide levels can be measured in serum as indicators of collagen production
- Elevated values of these propeptides in serum are found in patients with various bone metabolism defects
- Procollagen type I C-terminal propeptide (PICP) has a molecular weight of approximately 100 kDa and the normal range in serum depends on age and sex.
