Description

  • A virally induced endoribonuclease, RNase L is the terminal factor of the anti-viral action of interferon
  • Activation of RNase L results in inhibition of viral proliferation
  • Activation of RNase L has also been determined to degrade RNA, thus, initiating a cellular stress response, inducing apoptosis
  • Since mutations in RNase L relate to an increased incidence of prostate cancer, the activation of RNase L functions in counteracting prostate cancer, via apoptosis.
