Description

  • Mouse anti Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 antibody, clone LP46 is reactive with strains belonging to serogroup 1 (SG1) from the Pontiac 1, Benidorm and Knoxville strains
  • The causative agent of what is commonly called Legionnaire's Disease, Legionella pneumophila causes acute pneumonia
  • The disease can also present itself as an nonpneumonic, influenza-like illness called Pontiac Fever
  • Legionella is found in aquatic environments where it’s growth is supported by amoebae
  • In human infections Legionella acts as an intracellular parasite and multiplies in alveolar macrophages
  • The genus Legionella contains 39 recognized species
  • The immunological diversity of Legionella is due to the existence of a variety of serogroups
  • Legionella pneumophila has the most with a total of 14 serogroups
  • Leishmania major surface protease (gp63) is a 63kDa highly-conserved protein found at high density on many Leishmania species.
