Description

  • Specifically detects SNAP91 clone: 7H12.1 in Human, Mouse, Rat samples, and it is validated for Western Blotting Clathrin coat assembly protein AP180 (UniProt O60641), also known as Phosphoprotein F1-20, Assembly protein, 180kDa, 91kDa synaptosomal-associated protein, Clathrin coat-associated protein AP180, Synaptosomal-associated protein 91kDa homolog) is encoded by the SNAP91 gene in human
  • Clathrin-mediated endocytosis (CME) is a regulated process for internalization of transmembrane cargo
  • Clathrin molecules initially assemble into a vesicle coat at the plasma membrane, then a specific cargo sorting process selects and concentrates proteins into the newly formed vesicle
  • CME mediates traffic to different target membranes for cargo delivery inside cells
  • Both clathrin assembly and cargo sorting functions are controlled by SNAP91 protein (AP180) and its ubiquitously expressed homolog clathrin assembly lymphoid myeloid leukemia protein (CALM)
  • AP180 mediates clathrin assembly with its C-terminal assembly domain, whose central acidic clathrin and adapter binding (CLAP) sub-domain contains all of the known short binding motifs for clathrin and the adapter complex, AP2
  • The sequence of the remaining AP180 C-terminal sub-domain is conserved in CALM and functions to ensures efficient clathrin binding.
