Description

  • General description: C8 Ceramide is a short chain ceramide and is cell permeable.[1]
  • Application: C8 Ceramide (d18:1/8:0) has been used as an internal ceramide standard in electrospray ionization.[2] It has also been used as a substrate for ceramide kinase activity assay.[3] It is suitable for use as a substrate for galactocerebrosidase.[4]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: C8 Ceramide has anti-tumor functionality.[1] Synthetic liposomal C8 ceramide inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).[1] Addition of exogenous C8 ceramide causes necrosis in hepatocytes by decreasing ATP levels and impairing mitochondrial functionality.[5] C8 ceramide inhibition of serine palmitoyl transferase halts de novo sphingolipid biosynthesis.[6] It also acts as chemotherapeutic agent by increasing the reactive oxygen species in lung cancer cells.[7]
  • Packaging: 5 mL Amber Glass Screw Cap Vial (860508P-5mg)
